Backstory Appoints Victor Chang as Chief Information Security Officer to Ushe

SAN FRANCISCO — May 27, 2026 — Backstory (formerly People.ai), the leading AI answers platform for revenue leaders, today announced the appointment of Victor Chang as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Chang will lead comprehensive cybersecurity strategy, infrastructure security, and compliance programs across the organization.

Chang joins Backstory with more than 20 years of experience scaling cybersecurity, infrastructure and site reliability engineering at some of Silicon Valley's most recognized companies. Most recently, he served as a senior security leader at Meta, where he directed security and technical integrations for the company's global mergers and acquisitions activities across all business units. His career also spans leadership roles at Amdocs and high-growth startups across fintech, autonomous driving, and critical infrastructure security.

"Enterprise customers trust Backstory with their most sensitive revenue data which is made up of the deals, relationships, and execution intelligence that drive their business," said Jason Ambrose, CEO of Backstory. "Victor brings exactly the caliber of security leadership our customers deserve. His depth of experience navigating complex compliance environments and securing mission-critical systems at scale makes him the right person to lead this function as we grow."

As AI-powered platforms become embedded in enterprise revenue workflows, customers increasingly require rigorous security governance and compliance assurance before deploying solutions at scale. Chang's appointment underscores Backstory's commitment to building a platform that revenue teams can trust — not just for the answers it delivers, but for the security standards it upholds. His expertise spans complex compliance frameworks including ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS, and NIST 800-171.

"The opportunity to secure a platform that sits at the intersection of how sales technology and AI is genuinely compelling," said Victor Chang. "Backstory is building something that revenue leaders and their teams rely on to make high-stakes decisions every day, and I'm excited to establish a security program that our large enterprise customers can rely on."

Beyond his executive role, Chang is an active contributor to the broader security community. He serves on the boards of the Silicon Valley Information Systems Security Association (SV ISSA) and the Society for Information Management (SIM) SF Bay Chapter, where he facilitates strategic knowledge exchange among C-suite executives.
